DJI Neo 2 vs DJI Flip: Which Should You Buy?

The DJI Neo 2 and DJI Flip are both made for people who want to film themselves: you launch them from your hand and they follow you automatically. But they are quite different drones. Here's how they compare.

Quick verdict

• Choose the DJI Neo 2 if you want the smallest, lightest drone for selfies, sports and FPV fun.
• Choose the DJI Flip if image quality and flight time matter most, especially for travel and sunset shots.

Camera and video

The Flip has a much larger 1/1.3-inch 48 MP sensor with 4K/60fps HDR video, so it handles sunsets, shadows and low light far better. The Neo 2 uses a smaller 1/2-inch 12 MP sensor, but it now has a 2-axis gimbal and shoots 4K up to 100 fps, which is great for slow motion.

Size and weight

• Neo 2: about 151 g, truly pocket-sized
• Flip: under 249 g, folds flat but is noticeably bigger

Safety and obstacle avoidance

The Flip has full-coverage propeller guards, so it is very safe to fly close to people. The Neo 2 also has guards and adds a forward LiDAR sensor to avoid obstacles in front of it.

Flight time

• Neo 2: up to about 19 minutes per battery
• Flip: up to about 31 minutes per battery

For a day trip, the Flip needs fewer battery swaps. Either way, a Fly More Combo with three batteries is worth it.

Control options

Both can be flown from your palm with gestures or the app. The Neo 2 can also be flown with DJI goggles and the RC Motion 3 for immersive FPV flight, which the Flip doesn't support.
